Press Release: Go Art Go Kart

goartgokart-header The Millennium Forum and sponsors Campsie Karting have teamed up to create a new project called ‘Go Art Go Kart’ which will see local artist, Sean O Donnell work with young people from the local community and the Flame Drop-in Centre in Eglinton to produce one of Ireland’s largest hand painted murals. The mural, located in Campsie Karting (Unit 12 Mc Lean Road Campsie Industrial Estate), is the result of a collaborative community project made possible by Arts and Business N.I and the support of Campsie Karting’s sponsorship with the Millennium Forum Theatre. Ten young artists aged 12 – 18 years have worked tirelessly to give a much needed artistic boost to the race track of Campsie Karting.  On over 45 meters of wall they have replicated images of the infamous racetrack in Monte Carlo. The artwork will be unveiled week beginning the 13th of April. To compliment this project, young people will also custom paint a Go Kart which will be put on display in the Millennium Forum Piazza from 13th April to 13th May 2015.  This Go Kart will be placed on a floor of 3d art and will be accompanied by digital footage of the overall project.  Millennium Forum audiences will be invited to sit in the Go Kart, take ‘selfies’ have fun and upload them to the Millennium Forum Facebook/ Twitter using #goartgokart  for their chance to win track tickets and tickets to the Millennium Forum shows. Sponsorship and Development Officer at the Millennium Forum, Cara Mc Cartney commented: “This is another excellent example of how business and the arts can work together on a creative sponsorship.  Campsie Karting are raising their brand awareness through a successful sponsorship with the Millennium Forum whilst at the same time reaching out to their local community; this innovative project gives opportunities for young people of all nationalities to avail of complimentary art classes under the professional facilitation of Sean O Donnell on an arts project that will that will leave a legacy in their community for years to come.” She added: “Go Art Go Kart has been a three-month labour of love and gives a much-needed artistic boost to the race track décor at Campsie Karting, but more importantly, a great sense of pride to all the individuals involved.  The Millennium Forum is very grateful to Arts and Business N.I for their continued support with its creative partnerships such as with Campsie Karting.” Brona Whittaker, Arts Manager at Arts & Business NI also commented: “The ’Go Art Go Kart’ project between Millennium Forum and their sponsors Campsie Karting is a fantastic new project which has included young artists between the ages of 12-18 years in a creative and participative way. The project will have a positive impact on both the business and the arts partners and all of the young people involved. The partnership is a great example of how the worlds of arts and business can work together in creating new and innovative concepts which deliver on the objectives for all involved. A&B NI is delighted to be involved with the project through the Investment Programme.”
